This qualification is designed for food handlers within the catering and hospitality sector. The qualification meets new food safety occupational standards and new requirements for all catering businesses to have in place documented food safety management systems based on HACCP principles such as those recommended by the Food Standards Agency’s “Safer Food Better Business”.

This Course conforms to the foundation level outlined in the Industry Guide to Good Hygiene Practice (Catering Guide) for those in the food trade handling open, high risk foods.

The Course concludes with a 30 question multiple-choice test (which can be conducted orally). The successful candidates are awarded a sector specific Level 2 Award.
The Certificate is endorsed “with credit” for high marks.

Course title: Level 3 Award in supervising food safety in catering/manufacturing/retail

Duration: 3 days

This Certificate is designed principally for those who are, or intend to be, supervisors and potential managers of food handlers. The outcomes have been designed to ensure that supervisors and potential managers are aware that, in addition to traditional hygienic practices, they should seek to identify and prevent food hazards at all stages in food production, preparation and service, thus enabling them, and the staff they manage, to operate in a safe, hygienic and efficient manner. The course and qualification may be taken as a stand-alone certificate, or as part of a wider course of training.
This Course conforms to the intermediate level outlined in the Industry Guide to Good Hygiene Practice (Catering Guide) for those in the food trade handling open, high risk foods with supervisory responsibilities.

This qualification has an assessment methodology of 60 multiple choice questions.
The successful candidates are awarded a sector specific Level 3 Award.
The Certificate is endorsed “with credit” for high marks.
Students are expected to be self-motivated as time is required for self-study. Courses can also be offered on site as part of a Company’s in-house training programme.
